Applications Now Open for the 2026 Mike Rout Hockey Camp Scholarship
A Unique Opportunity for Underprivileged Youth in the Kelowna Area
Penticton, BC — Okanagan Hockey Camps is proud to once again honour the legacy of the late Mike Rout by offering the 2026 Mike Rout Hockey Camp Scholarship. This initiative provides underprivileged youth aged 7 to 16 from West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Winfield with the opportunity to attend an Okanagan Hockey Kelowna summer camp—at no cost.
Mike Rout, a pillar of the Kelowna hockey community, passed away in December 2022. His tireless dedication to youth hockey and his belief in the life lessons learned through sport left a lasting legacy. As the founder of the Kelowna Heat non-profit spring hockey program, Mike worked to make the game accessible for young athletes, many of whom might not have had the opportunity otherwise.
Mike also made significant contributions to both the Kelowna Rockets and the Okanagan Hockey Group in Penticton and Kelowna. He was known for his belief in discipline, structure, and creating a positive hockey environment—often going above and beyond to help players succeed on and off the ice.
In recognition of his impact, the Okanagan Hockey Camps is pleased to continue offering this scholarship opportunity in Mike’s memory.
The 2026 Mike Rout Hockey Camp Scholarship will cover the registration fees for two successful applicants to attend an Okanagan Hockey Kelowna summer camp. This unique experience provides high-level training, mentorship, and the chance to be immersed in a supportive hockey environment.
