The WHL Prospect Skills Combine Standard On-Ice Goalie Testing consists of six total test configurations, within four test formats: Short Recovery Test, Long Recovery Test, Goalie Reaction Test, and the Goalie Agility Test.

SHORT RECOVERY TEST

The Short Recovery Test is used to evaluate a goalie’s agility, tight movement speed and control, as well as, transition ability from upright readiness to butterfly and vice versa. The Short Recovery Test is repeated in both lateral crease directions (Short Recovery Left and Short Recovery Right):

LONG RECOVERY TEST

The Long Recovery Test is used to evaluate speed out of the net, transitions between upright and butterfly positions, as well as lateral movement across the crease. The Long Recovery Test is repeated in both lateral crease directions (Long Recovery Left and Long Recovery Right):

GOALIE REACTION TEST

The Goalie Reaction Test is used to evaluate multi-directional agility, reaction time and speed. The goalie is required to react to a random visual signal (left gate or right gate) complete the movement assignment, and repeat. The Goalie Reaction Test typically requires the longest duration of testing performance, among all goalie tests.

GOALIE PRO AGILITY TEST

The Goalie Pro Agility Test is used to evaluate leg power, directional change and lateral movement speed, stopping ability and balance. The Goalie Pro Agility Test is repeated in both lateral directions.
