Mikaela Reay promoted to U18 Female Black Head Coach!

We are thrilled to announce the well-deserved promotion of Mikaela Reay from Assistant Coach to the new Head Coach of our U18 Female Black team for the upcoming 2024-2025 season!

Since 2022, Mikaela has proven to be an invaluable asset as the Assistant Coach of our U18 Female Black team, where she has showcased her expertise and dedication to our program’s success. Over the past year, Mikaela has proved she was more than ready for the job. We have no doubt that Mikaela will excel in her new role, inspiring and guiding our student-athletes to reach new heights on and off the ice.

“We are very excited to promote Mikaela to a full time Head Coaching role, as she has been a continuous learner, excellent teacher, and role model for the young female athletes in our program. With the support and mentorship from OHA in her new role, we are confident that Mikaela and her soon to be named AC, will deliver on the expectations of the U18 Female Black team as a contending development team in the CSSHL.”

Mikaela played four impactful years (2016-2020) at the University of Lethbridge where she earned her Bachelor of Health Science in Addictions Counselling degree. She is also a 3-time Academic all-Canadian. Her dedication to the sport and commitment to personal growth have been evident since her days competing in the CSSHL during her high school career.

In her coaching journey, Mikaela has honed her skills by working as an Assistant Coach at the U13 & U15 levels, showcasing her leadership and mentorship abilities. Over the past year, Mikaela has also taken on the lead role with Okanagan Hockey’s Hockey Canada Skills Development program, working with athletes aged 10-12. Her contributions as an Apprentice Coach at the 2022 Alberta Challenge Cup further demonstrate her passion for developing young talent and fostering a winning team spirit.

She is currently studying for her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.

Mikaela, we look forward to seeing you lead with passion, integrity, and excellence as our new Head Coach. Congratulations once again on this remarkable achievement, and we are excited to witness the incredible journey ahead under your guidance!
