Breaking News: OHA Edmonton Expands to Introduce U18 Female Hockey Program.

Following today’s announcement from Hockey Alberta and the Alberta Female Hockey League (AFHL,) that the U18 AAA division is expanding to eight teams, we are thrilled to announce an exciting chapter in the OHA Edmonton legacy. General Manager, Randall Weber, and the entire staff and coaches are grateful for the incredible opportunity from Hockey Alberta to operate a U18 Female team for the 2024-2025 season.

News of this expansion will bring our total teams to 6, catering to the U15 to U18 Prep divisions. Adding a female program marks a significant stride towards fostering diversity and inclusivity within our OHA family, and we are working tirelessly to ensure a program that not only develops exceptional hockey skills but also promotes leadership, camaraderie, and personal growth.

OHA Edmonton has submitted its application to the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) for the team to compete in the U18 Female division. The CSSHL was designed specifically for elite-level student-athletes, allowing these athletes to increase their skills on and off the ice, and providing athletes with a high level of competition as well as exposure.

In addition, we are currently evaluating the home of the new U18 Female team.

Stay tuned for details on exciting partnerships that will enhance our commitment to providing top-notch opportunities for our incoming female athletes! More information regarding evaluation camps will be announced once confirmed. We can’t wait to see the incredible talent that will join us on this exciting new journey.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been part of the OHA Edmonton journey. Your support has made it possible for us to reach new heights, and we’re excited to continue growing and thriving together.
