OHA Edmonton is excited to announce that Corey Bricknell will be the Head Coach of our U17 Prep Black team for the 2023-2024 season.
Corey’s passion for the game, dedication to hard work, and positive mindset make him a perfect fit for our mission of developing not only exceptional hockey players but also outstanding individuals.
Corey brings over 18 years of operations management and sportsmanship leadership, making him a seasoned professional in all facets of hockey. As a former professional hockey player, he possesses the unique ability to motivate players and instill a belief in the process, encouraging them to focus on the moment and continuously improve their skills.
His extensive experience in program development and operation is evident through his proven ability to strategize, implement initiatives, and provide valuable policy recommendations that contribute to the growth and success of teams he has worked with.
Throughout his career, Corey has showcased his diverse management abilities by implementing complex strategic and hockey development initiatives, ultimately optimizing available resources to achieve remarkable results.

As a head coach, Corey has consistently displayed exceptional leadership qualities, empowering team accountability and driving initiatives that foster a positive and thriving team environment. His excellent motivational skills and ability to build strong relationships based on respect and trust have earned him numerous accolades, including being named Coach of the Year in the 2021-2022 season in the CAJHL and leading his team to become League Champions and Champions Cup Winners.
Corey’s impressive background extends to his playing career, where he was drafted 60th overall into the Ontario Hockey League in 1992 and had the honor of being part of Allan Cup Finalist teams in both 2005 and 2006.
His past coaching experiences are equally distinguished, having achieved Coach of the Year honors in 2009-2010 while leading the Port Perry Mojacks to League Championship glory. His contribution as an Associate Coach to Team NOJHL during the Eastern Canada Cup in 2017 highlights his capabilities on the coaching front.
Before joining OHA, Corey held notable positions as Assistant General Manager and Associate Head Coach for the Drayton Valley Thunder AJHL and Head Hockey Coach for the Edson Aeros Junior A Hockey Club, among others. These roles have further honed his leadership and coaching abilities, making him an asset to our organization.
