OHA Edmonton is excited to announce that Jason Chimera will be the Head Coach of our U18 Female Prep team for the 2024-2025 season. 

We are thrilled to welcome Jason Chimera as the head coach for our U18 Female program for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. With an impressive background in both playing and coaching hockey, Jason brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team.

Jason’s journey in hockey began with three years in the Western Hockey League before embarking on an illustrious 18-year professional hockey career. His achievements on the ice include representing Team Canada and earning silver in the 1997 World Juniors, as well as capturing gold in the 2007 World Championship and silver again in 2008. In the NHL, Jason’s accomplishments include winning the Presidents Trophy twice and playing an impressive 1107 games.

Transitioning to coaching, Jason has demonstrated his dedication and skill in guiding young athletes. His coaching experience spans various levels, including leading the U15AA Pandas Black in the AFHL and coaching teams in the Alberta Warrior Female Spring program. Jason has also been instrumental in developing young talent as head coach for various HSL teams, including the 2010 AAA and Major teams.

“I am excited for the opportunity to join the OHA program. I have worked with the organization for the past two years as an assistant coach, and l have enjoyed my time. OHA Edmonton does a great job of surrounding the athletes with knowledgeable staff. As for coaching female athletes, I am always struck by their enthusiasm, drive, and love for the game. I would consider it an honor to help the new U18 female team reach their potential as athletes and be a part of growing the female game.” – Jason Chimera.

In addition to his on-ice accomplishments, Jason is committed to continuous learning and improvement. He holds certifications in Coach 1 and 2, Coach Checking Skills, and Coach Development 1, showcasing his dedication to honing his coaching abilities.
