OHA Penticton welcomes Shelby Buss, BHKin, BSc-AT, CAT(C), to the team as Athletic Therapist.
As we prepare for the new hockey season, we are excited to announce a new addition to our Athletic Therapy Dept., Shelby Buss, a highly motivated Athletic Therapist with a passion for working in the world of sports, particularly hockey. Shelby’s education and practical involvement in various athletic environments make her an invaluable asset to our organization.
Shelby has a bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia-Okanagan, which she successfully achieved in 2019. It was during this period that Shelby’s interest in hockey flourished as she actively engaged with a U15 hockey team in Kelowna. This hands-on experience fueled her dedication to the world of sports therapy, particularly within the context of hockey.
Shelby went on to complete a BSc in Kinesiology (Athletic Therapy) from the University of Winnipeg in 2022. While at the University of Winnipeg, she underwent practicum placements. Notably, she worked with the University of Winnipeg’s Women’s Basketball team, contributing to their achievement of placing second at the USport Nationals. Additionally, her time at OHA Penticton exposed her to the unique dynamics of the hockey academy world.
Since achieving her certification, Shelby has embarked on an impressive journey, contracting her expertise to esteemed hockey academies within the CSSHL, including OHA Penticton. Her practical involvement has allowed her to hone her skills and contribute to the well-being and performance of young athletes pursuing their dreams.
With her experience, educational background, and genuine commitment to the well-being of athletes, we are confident in Shelby’s ability to make a positive impact on our organization and the individuals we serve.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Shelby Buss, our new Athletic Therapist. We look forward to the positive contributions she will bring to our team and the student-athletes in our care.
