Okanagan Hockey Ontario GM, Paul Pascuzzi introduces Matthew Bourgeois as Head Goaltending Instructor for the 2023-2024 season.
Okanagan Hockey Ontario is thrilled to introduce Matthew Bourgeois as the Head Goaltending Instructor for the upcoming 2023-2024 season. With a proven track record of excellence in coaching, scouting, and performance enhancement, Matthew brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our program.
Matthew is a highly accomplished coach known for his exceptional ability to enhance player performance. His proven ability to elevate player performance showcases his dedication and leadership. As a driven self-starter, he possesses the skill to motivate players and achieve tangible results.
Matthew has been a High Performance (HP1) Certified Coach and Goalie Development Presenter since July 2012. He designs comprehensive yearly plans, including on and off-ice training, for the holistic development of players. He will be providing OHO with a goalie development program, ensuring players are equipped with essential skills.
Having previously served as an Assistant/Goalie Coach with both Ontario Tech University Varsity Men’s Hockey and Canisius College NCAA Men’s Hockey, Matthew’s responsibilities included advanced scouting, player development, and strategic planning. His dedication to individualized goalie development and overall team progress has contributed to the team’s achievements.
At an international level, Matthew advanced hockey development in China. His visionary approach encompassed on-ice and off-ice program design, cultivating the skills of players, goalies, and teams alike. He also spearheaded coaching education and curriculum implementation, leaving a lasting impact on the growth of the sport.
In 2017 Matthew worked with SECA Worldwide China, and was involved in program development, player representation, and talent acquisition underscoring his dedication to advancing the sport’s presence in the region.
From 2015-2017. Matthew’s expertise excelled as he served as Goaltending Coach for the Chinese National Women’s Hockey Team. His role encompassed advanced scouting, designing personalized goalie development programs, and providing insightful game evaluations. His meticulous approach to individualized player development, both mentally and physically, was integral to the team’s progress.
Matthew’s accomplishments demonstrate his capacity to effect change and drive success. His experience has equipped him to shape and elevate our hockey development initiatives.
As our Head Goaltending Instructor for the 2023-2024 U15 and U18 Prep teams, Matthew Bourgeois will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of goalie development within Okanagan Hockey Ontario. His passion, vision, and dedication to player growth make him an invaluable asset to our organization.
